Drywall Repair & Installation
From hairline cracks to full-room installation — taped, mudded and sanded to a finish that disappears under any sheen of paint.
The brief
Most painting projects involve at least a little drywall work — a nail-pop here, a hairline crack there, a screw-hole from a fixture removed before the new paint goes up. We include this kind of minor preparation in every interior estimate at no extra charge. Larger drywall work — patches over plumbing access, full-room installation, ceiling replacement after water damage — we quote as a separate line item, because the scope, time and materials are meaningfully different.
What unites the two is the finish. There is no point installing a beautifully framed wall and then sanding it to a Level 3 finish if the room is going to receive a satin paint that will telegraph every imperfection. We finish drywall to the level the eventual paint demands.
Services we offer
Minor patching. Nail-pops, hairline cracks, holes up to about 6 inches across — included in standard interior repainting estimates.
Medium repairs. Holes up to about 24 inches across, water-damage repairs, ceiling and wall section replacement.
Full-room installation. New rooms, basement finishes, partition walls and ceiling installation, including hanging, taping, mudding and sanding to a Level 4 or Level 5 finish ready for paint.
Finish levels
We finish drywall to the appropriate finish level for the room and the eventual sheen of paint. For walls receiving a matte or eggshell finish we deliver a Level 4 finish — the standard for residential work. For walls receiving a satin or semi-gloss finish, or for walls in critical lighting conditions (large windows, raking light, dark colours), we recommend and deliver a Level 5 finish — a full skim-coat that produces a uniform surface and eliminates the joint telegraphing common in lower-grade work.
Timeline
A single patch is typically completed in one site visit (with a return visit two days later for the final sanding and priming once the compound has fully cured). Full-room installation timelines depend on size and complexity; we quote precisely on the written estimate.
Warranty
All drywall work performed by Source 4 Painting is backed by a written one-year workmanship warranty against compound failure, joint cracking or fastener pops attributable to our installation.
