Frequently asked questions

Fourteen answers to the things clients ask at the kitchen table. If yours is not here, call (617) 823-4524 or email contact@source4painting.ca — a real person replies, usually same day.

Is the estimate really free?
Yes. The site visit, measurements and written quote are free and carry no obligation. We do not charge a design or callout fee for painting estimates inside our service area.
How soon can you start?
In spring and summer we are typically booking two to four weeks out for interiors and three to six weeks for exteriors. Small jobs and rental turnovers can often be slotted sooner — ask.
Do you provide the paint?
Yes, at our trade cost passed straight through and itemised on your invoice. You keep the leftovers, labelled with the room and the exact colour code.
What brands do you use?
We specify per surface rather than per brand, choosing professional-grade waterborne acrylics and enamels. Your quote names the exact product line and sheen before you commit.
Do I have to move out?
Almost never. We work room by room, seal active areas with zip walls, and use low-odour products. For whole-house exteriors you can stay in the home throughout.
Do I need to move my furniture?
No. We move and wrap furniture as part of the job. We ask only that you take down personal items, valuables and anything fragile beforehand.
How much does painting cost in Saint Paul?
Interiors typically start around $2.90 per square foot of paintable area and exteriors around $3.60, before repairs. A three-bedroom interior repaint most often lands between $4,500 and $9,000. Use the planner on our home page for a rough range.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes — we carry general liability and workers’ compensation coverage. A certificate of insurance naming you or your property entity can be issued before work begins.
What is covered by the warranty?
Three years on our workmanship: peeling, blistering, flaking or cracking caused by our application. Manufacturer defects are claimed through the paint supplier and we manage that process for you.
Can you paint in winter?
Interiors, yes, all year. Exteriors, no — we do not coat siding below 50°F surface temperature or within three degrees of dew point, which in Minnesota means late April to early October.
Do you do repairs as well as painting?
We handle drywall patching, plaster skim coats, caulking, and minor exterior carpentry such as rotted trim boards. Structural work, roofing and plumbing are referred to trades we trust.
How do you handle colour choices?
A colour consultation is included with quotes above $2,500. We bring large brush-outs, place them where the light actually falls, and leave them overnight before anything is ordered.
What payment methods do you take?
Card, ACH bank transfer, e-transfer or cheque. A 25% deposit confirms your dates and the balance is due after the punch-list walk.
What if I am not happy with something?
Tell us at the punch-list walk and we fix it that day. If something appears later, call — warranty visits are scheduled within ten business days.
